At our preschool, every child is supported by a Key Person. This is a named adult who plays a vital role in helping your child feel safe, secure, and confident in our setting.
We call them a ‘Special Teacher.’

Your child’s Key Person:
- Builds a warm, trusting relationship with your child
- Helps your child feel safe, valued, and understood
- Supports emotional wellbeing and confidence
❤️ Emotional Support
The Key Person:
- Comforts and reassures your child when needed
- Helps children manage feelings and behaviour
- Celebrates achievements, big and small
🎓 Supporting Learning & Development
The Key Person:
- Observes your child’s interests and development
- Plans experiences that build on what your child enjoys and can do
- Supports learning through play, indoors and outdoors
📖 Knowing Your Child Well
The Key Person:
- Knows your child’s routines, preferences, and needs
- Tracks progress and supports next steps in learning
- Shares meaningful observations with parents and carers
🤝 Working in Partnership with Parents
The Key Person:
- Is your main point of contact at preschool
- Shares information about your child’s day and development
- Values your knowledge of your child and works closely with you
🌱 Supporting Independence
The Key Person encourages children to:
- Try new things and build confidence
- Develop independence in self-care and routines
- Feel proud of their achievements
